This chapter is a brief description of some novel nanomaterials that have recently emerged as promising and effective shuttles to treat environmental problems. The list involves some natural nanomaterials such as alginates, chitosan, clays, and cellulose-based materials. In addition, layered double hydroxides, an interesting and highly versatile nanomaterial, will be discussed. The chapter also focuses on the biosynthesis of these materials by some microorganisms like bacteria and algae. The structure, synthesis, applications, and pros and cons of each material will be discussed based on recent advances in the literature.
